Invoicing/Receipt
Now that your customer has made it through Checkout, they will
reach a very nice looking Receipt (invoice) page that can be
printed and saved. Remember, at any time though, your customers
can still access their receipts from the included Pilot Cart
Gateway interface.
- Successful Payment; Shipments are automatically
queued up for the day for processing, and digital goods are
immediately accessible/downloadable.
- Un-successful Payment; If, for some reason, your
customers credit card was not accepted (and they chose to
continue anyway (not go back and try again)), or they chose a
manual form of payment, they can still complete their order if
they choose, but their Receipt will show as "Awaiting Payment".
After the customers payment has cleared, then you can mark the
order as "Completed".
Order Processing
What exactly happens now that an order has been placed?
- Automated emails - ASPMail, ASPEmail, and CDONTS now
supported! NEW, JMail Support!
Upon completion of an order, the following emails are
automatically sent (these can also be disabled):
- Sales Manager Alert; Order details can be automatically
emailed to your sales manager, warehouse, etc notifying them
of the order.
- Customer Thank You; Your customer is thanked for their
order, and hyperlinks are provided for access to your
Gateway, order details, order tracking, etc.
- Actual Manufacturer Alert; Sometimes you may wish for your
vendor or a third party to get notification of the order as
well. This can also be disabled. This feature is also handy
for notifying yourself of an order on your cellular phone or
pager!
- Automatic database entry; All acquired customer and
order information is logged to your database for immediate
customer Gateway access, and internal use in your Control Panel.
- Control Panel Orders Editor; View an order, edit an order,
mark it as shipped, mark it as awaiting payment, assign a new
tracking number to an individual item within an order, you name
it. Customers are automatically emailed too, as soon as their
order, or an item within their order is marked as shipped, or
you change its status. Your customers are always informed!

Web-based Control Panel

This is the internal Admin Console, that you can use to
configure/manage your entire site.

As long as you have access to the Internet, you have access to
your Control Panel.
- 1-Click Inventory
The Inventory Control Center (ICC) is your one-screen, one-click
product editor. Edit such things as:
- SKU/Serial#
- Barcode; If your company uses bar code scanners and
printers, then you will love this feature! Easily integrate your
Pilot Cart database with equipment such as Symbol, Metrologic,
Opticon, Psion, Magtek, SOHO, Lexmark, Eltron, and others. As
long as the software included with your scanner can integrate
with a Microsoft-based database (such as Access or SQL Server),
you're all set!
- Item Location; Building#, Row, Shelf, Bin#, etc.
- Manufacturer selections; Website displayed
Manufacturer, and Actual Manufacturer. Also works for Vendor
selection if you are a Value Added Reseller (VAR), or for
"branding" your products.
- Item/Product Name
- Product Description; HTML tags OK!
- Category selection; Select one or more categories to
put a product into.
- Thumbnail, and Large Image selections; Web-based file

- Ship Time selection; "Ships in 24-48 Hours", or

- Allow Back-Order; Should we allow ordering of this
product if its QIS reaches zero(0)?
- Flat-rate Shipping charge; You can apply a totally
separate shipping charge just for 1 product if you like.
- Handling charge; You can apply a totally separate
handling charge just for 1 product if you like.
- Taxable Handling; Apply tax to the Handling charge?
- Cost, and Retail Cost; Cost is what the customer will
buy it for, but for marketing purposes you may want to also show
a Retail Cost. (not required)
- Taxable Item; Should tax apply to this product, or

- Unit of Measurement; [Per] Item, Carton, Box, Pallet,
Zip file, Case, Bottle, Oz, Quart, etc.
- Sale Item & Discounting; Is the item on sale? If so,
by what percent(%)?
- Quantity Discount; Buy 4, get the 5th for free. Buy 1
get 1 free! etc.
- Show It, Enable/Disable; Enter the products into your
inventory/database, but show, or not show, the item on your
website.
- Related Items selection; Tempt your customers with
one or more "Impulse Buy" products. Upselling!
- Item selection; ie: "Get a free xxx when you buy this
item".. etc.
- Internal Notes; Make internal notes on the product.
Only seen internally, not on your website.
Pages Editor
The Pages Editor is what your website template (see IV below)
uses, when dynamically generating your website "pages". All page
content, layout, colors, meta tags, images etc are all controlled
from this Pages Editor. There is never a need for you to
upload/download static html files via ftp again! Everything is
controlled from your Control Panel.
- Page Name; What's the name for this page? ie: About,
Contact, History, etc. These page names (example: pg=products),
are what the Pilot Cart uses to generate pages and create menu
items for display through your Template (see below).
- META Author; Who is the creator/editor for this
website page?
- META Description; What is a good description of this
page? ie: This is our "About Us" page, it tells company history,
etc.
- META Keywords; Besides Description, Keywords are good
"Search Engine food". Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo,
AltaVista, AOL, MSN, InfoSeek, etc use this info to correctly
index your website.
- Page Colors; Select a color theme for your page text,
hyperlinks, table colors, page background color, etc.
- Page Title; This is the text that will show up in the
title bar of the window.
- Page Header; This text will show as a bold header on
your page. Where, depends on your template.
- Page Content; This is the text and images that will
make up the majority of your web page.
- Menu Item; If you would like to make the page you are
creating a menu item on your template, then just type a title
for the menu item and check whether or not you want this page to
appear as a menu item in your main and/or footer menus,
generated dynamically by your template.
- Show in Search results; You can make it so that this
new page you have created/edited shows, or does not show in
search results.
Mass Update Tool
View/Update the quantities and prices for every single item in
your inventory from ONE screen. Even items with modifiers!
Orders Editor
Search by any number of fields for one or more orders, then click
on the one you want from the following results screen, to access
it. Now, from the Order Editor screen, update the order status,
select the shipper and service used, enter/edit a tracking number,
run a credit card, you name it. This Editor is easily accessible
from many other Control Panel Editors, Reports, etc.
Reports
Getting demographics and reporting are imperative to your
eBusiness success. Cater your business around what your customers
actually want!
- Orders by Manufacturer; View all orders, sorted and
page-able by Manufacturer. For instance, if you sell Microsoft
products, this will show you all of the Microsoft products you
have sold. If you brand your merchandise, this also is a handy
feature.
- Orders by Customer; View all orders placed by a given
customer.
- Today's Unfulfilled Orders; View all of the day's
orders that have not yet been fulfilled or shipped.
- Past Unfulfilled Orders; View all orders that have
not yet been fulfilled older than today.
- Orders by Coupon; View all orders placed by coupon(s)
used.
- Taxes Charged/Collected; See how much in taxes you
have collected thus far. Most Tax Accountants will need this
info. Shows year to date, and past year.
- Shipping Charged/Collected; See exactly how much has
been charged to customers for shipping, what was paid, etc.

- Top 10 Best Selling Products; Which products are
selling the best?
- Top 10 Worst Selling Products; Which products are not
selling so well?

to control and edit directly from your Control Panel. Need help? Just

- Discuss & Design; Discuss with us your needs for
the site, your target audience, preferred color scheme, etc, so

Create your own
If you are a Developer, why not create your own Pilot Cart template?
All WYSIWYG editors such as InterDev, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc
are supported. HTML, DHTML, Javascript, Java, Macromedia Flash,
XML, ASP, and other content are also supported! We have many
different Functions that Developers can download for free now too,
and copy them into your Pilot Cart template. Functions such as ShowRandomProducts(), ShowRandomSaleItems(), ShowBestSellers(),
etc can be used.

Web-based Gateway

This is your external customer access point. Customers login, and
use this to..:
- Track an Order
Real-time order and item tracking included.
- Check Order Status
Accessing an order placed will also reveal its status, such as
"Awaiting Payment", "Shipped", etc.
- Check Order History
At any time, your customers may view their past orders from your
Gateway.
- Edit their eAccount
Customers may edit any of their info at any time.
- Download Items
If your customers purchased digital goods from you, they may
download them, and re-download them at any time.

System Requirements

What exactly will we need besides this software to get up and
running?
- Web Hosting
We all need Web Hosting at an ISP if we have a website. This is
where the Pilot Cart files for your website will actually reside.
- Host with Scarab Media
- Host it yourself; Server Requirements
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or higher
- Microsoft Database Support
- Microsoft Access 2000 database included.
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, and 2000 scripts included
(if needed).
ODBC System DSN, User DSN, and OLEDB connections
supported, giving you greater flexibility when it comes to
hosting. The Setup Wizard will take care of this part for you
too.
MDAC 2.6 and MSXML4 (free/recommended from microsoft.com)
Coming Soon: Linux, Unix, and WAP (PDA and wireless
devices) support!
